The Nimitz Arrives in Hawaii!

USS Nimitz arrives in Hawaii!

HEre are some pics of Memorial Day morning here in our neighborhood. Notice all the Sailors standing at attention around the entire edge of each level. The Nimitz then pressed on further into Pearl Harbor within sight of the USS Arizona Memorial.
Even though we live in the flight path of the airport living here has its benefits, especially when you have kids that like seeing the ships, subs, destroyers and cruisers!

Memorial Day Surprise! The USS NIMITZ!

Welcome Home Sailors!!!
Its kind of cool living at the mouth of Pearl Harbor. So, forgive me for yelling "Andrew! Wave your flag!" Hah... The flags they had were still rolled up and they were waving "sticks" I sound like a nut!

The Birthday Mob at the Beach

One Of Jody's three boys had a Birthday Party up at the beach here where we live. This is the "Pack"
And a good pic of Jody and Gretchen, my dear friends here.

Coconut Palm Frond WEAVING!!! YESSSS!!!

My friend "Super Jody" weaves palm fronds. She called me up the other day... "Jane! I got one, let's weave! I'll call Gretchen!"
She asked "Would you like to come over to "My" house? I replied nah, come over to mine then all the kids can run around here and play (This area is where they all hang out and Jody and clan are in TEMP lodging till they move) Not thinking.. right? Are you following just WHERE i went wrong?
So, Super Jody rides over on her beach cruiser with the frigging 10 ft long Palm Frond!!! What the Hell was I thinking? Sometimes I am so stupid... Anyways... Leave it to Jody to get the thing here...
SO, we sat and made hats! Jody basically made mine, I went right when I should have gone left throughout most of my time... I don't know how this "weaving" will pan out once she moves (To Tacoma of all places!) I'll have to check a 10 ft long Coconut Palm Frond into luggage when I go to visit! God knows the Airlines will charge me a thousand dollars for it! I heard American is going to charge $20 for your one suitcase! We joked about them charging to use the bathroom.. then for breathing air...
So, here are some weave pics with Jody and then the basket cubbies that she taught me to make today!

Andrews Curriculum Fair at school

WE went to see what he had for us at the curriculum fair at IPES. IT was so cute reading the stories in his book and on the bulletin board. He has a lot to say! (Takes after me in that area! lol)

Big, Fat Mangos!!

Outside our door is a huge Mango tree! ITs about the size of an Oak tree back in Minnesota! Except this one has something better than acorns! Mangos!! And LOTS of them! They re ripening now and will thru June. I'm going to try and can some Mango Jam. Ryan is crazy about them and tries to gather every fallen fruit and bring it in. I will be busy needless to say!
HEre they are!

Our Gecko's hatched!

Two of our three eggs hatched today! So, this morning we went outside and let them go free! Bye guys! You sure are cute!

Photo Updates

This little guy was in our house.. Trying to hide in my light box where I take jewelry photos. THe little bugger startled me! When I tried to take his pic he kept scurrying to the other side of the paper.. I put my fancy learnin' to use and used the ol' "mirror trick!" Hah! gotcha! I then let him loose outside

Catching up...

Okay, I see its been a long time since I have updated anything on here so, here it goes:
1. We finally came up on the housing list at Hickam! This time we ended up getting a spacious 4 br duplex with a rather large yard and central air! We will be moving again... Troy wants to do a DITY move so that means we will be humping every iota of crap from one house to the other OURSELVES. It pays us to do it, but I never wanted to be a mover :-P

2. More friends moved back to the mainland :-[ We will miss you Wilma, Scott and Travis!!!!

3. I did rather well at my shows in May! Yay! More beads! I am loving making things!

www.aquashella.etsy.com
I am still getting stuff up on there! Phew! Keep checking back!

4. Our Gecko eggs hatched!

5. Sadly, WIll Fifer died. I don't even think "sadly" is the proper adjective to describe the loss we feel. WIll was the first Grandpa Maddie ever had, he was our "family" and most of all he was our friend. He lived a great life and loved life and really, REALLY lived it. We miss him every day.

6. New neighbors arrive and move in next door. They are totally cool and fun. 4 kids and our kids love them! Figures we are moving, right? Murphy's Law! They adopted the Chug! They fell in love with little Cheech (who couldn't?!) and named him "Squirt" HE is totally spoiled now and has taken a liking to Sweet Tea!
